Reduce Plastics Use

Reducing the use of plastics can help the songbirds. Although the problem seems insurmountable, just carrying a reusable shopping bag can make a difference. According to earthday.org, it is estimated that we use FOUR TRILLION plastic shopping bags per year! Though these bags are only used for 10 - 20 minutes, they can last in landfills for 1,000 years. They aren't recyclable curbside because they become tangled in recycling machinery.  At our store, if you bring in one of our paper or reusable shopping bags on your next visit, we will give you $1.00 off your purchase.

Purchasing products made from recycled plastic can also help. Wild Birds Unlimitied Eco Tough feeders and nest boxes are made from recycled plastic that stand up to the elements, are easy to clean, and do not crack or warp.
