Summertime Bird Feeding

Summer is one of the best times to watch birds!  By being Seasonally Savvy, you can provide a backyard habitat to attract birds to your yard, including migrating birds seen only in the spring and summer, and observe courtship, nesting, and baby birds that you won't see at other times of the year. We will discuss how to create a summertime habitat in your yard, including feeding stations, bird feeders, food, a water source, native plants, alternatives to pesticide spraying, as well as solutions to counteract nuisance birds and animals.

The Joy of Bird Feeding

Phil and Therese Barraco, owners of Wild Birds Unlimited of Woodhaven, will talk about steps you can take to create a backyard refuge for birds. The talk will focus on bird habitat, how to attract them to your yard with different foods, the 12 elements of a thoughtful bird feeding station, being seasonally savvy, and problem solving, using principles found in Jim Carpenter’s book, “The Joy of Bird Feeding.
